B.A., Texas Technological College, 1960, Georgia Institute of Technology, BSEE, 1954.

Area of Interest 

Mr. Schiermeyer is Vice President Emeritus of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. where he served as Vice President from 1984-1998 and as a Senior Financial Consultant from 1976-1984.  From 1972-1976, he was an independent Financial Consultant, and previous to his long career in Investments, Mr. Schiermeyer was an Account Manager for IBM, a Geophysicist with Humble Oil Company, and is a USAF veteran. 

Mr. Schiermeyer has been active in intercollegiate and high school football for over 45 years, serving as a referee, official’s trainer, statistician, and scouting coordinator for the Big XII football staff.  He is Past President of the Texas Association of Sports Officials-Football.  He is also Co-Founder of the Foundation For Excellence, a private non-profit organization that provides support for outstanding young people attending schools in the Lubbock Independent School District

In his spare time, Mr. Schiermeyer is an enthusiastic and inspirational public speaker.

He has delivered over 1500 speeches to professional, civic, fraternal, and religious organizations nationwide and has served as co-host to numerous public telethons over the past three decades. 

Mr. Schiermeyer is married to the former Sally Barfield. He has two children, a son Troy, a Vice-President, Senior Financial Consultant, Director for Pasadena California Complex, Merrill Lynch, and a daughter Corry, Director for Global Communications, National Security Council, The White House.
